Girls worthy of special mention for good work, faithfully and cheerfully done, are: Leena
Joseph, Emily Leo, Dora Reece and Rosalind Watson; while many showed marked improvement, among
them Alberta Jones, Hannah Douglas and Mabel Martin.

BAKERY

Miss V. BaiLey

The work of this department is done by the boys, an average of about 170 loaves of good
bread being turned out by them daily. Boys that are able to bake this amount for a steady period
of a month or six weeks, are deserving of a great deal of credit. Special mention is accorded Willie
Leeson, Clarence Wesley and Chester Boulton; while showing marks of improvement are Anthony
Calder, Moses Leeson and Leonard Wesley.

LAUNDRY

Miss Marion Burtock

Theory, 2 hours; Application, 18 hours, weekly.

The work in this department goes steadily on, each day bringing its allotted task of washing,
starching and ironing the numerous garments that come in. Most of the washing is: done by machinery,
but each girl has at least two hours practice in handwashing each week. Lectures are given three
times a week.

During the school year forty-eight girls have passed through the department, and all have
taken a keen interest in the work, especially in the ironing of the finer articles. From such a number
of willing workers it is somewhat difficult to choose the outstanding ones, but Alice Sepass, Edna
Tait, Lena Joseph and Emily Leo are worthy of special commendation.
