this species, but no birds were seen there on June 4. At Bouchie Lake approximately 20 hunted insects low over the lake on the morn- ing of June 7, a cloudy and windy day, and in the afternoon five were together in a dead bush by the shore. The only other record is for a single bird at Toboggan Lake on July 13 Barn Swallow--Hirundo rustica (Linnaeus). Common and nesting at most of the places visited. First seen at Tiltzarone Lake on May 17, and the last record was made at the same place on August 31. During the first week in August a popula- tion nesting on the rafters under a bridge that crosses the narrows of Burns Lake hadnests with eggs and others with young ranging in age from some newly hatched to some about ready to fly. This bridge was being repaired at that time under the direction of Mr. J. Sugden who told me that when a number of nests were moved to other situa- tions under the bridge, in order to prevent them being destroyed, the parents quickly became accustomed to the changed situation and continued feeding the young. At this time also another population under the wharf at Southbank, Francois Lake, was feeding young Cliff Swallow-~Petrochelidon pyrrhonata (Viellot}. Common and widely distributed, the first seen on May 6 at Dragon Lake. A colony of 10 pairs was nest building at Nukko Lake so late as July 4, and small nesting colonies were noted at numer- ous other places as far west as Hazelton Canada Jay--Perisorsus canadensis (Linnaeus). Observed at the following places, viz.; Puntchesakut Lake, Summit Lake, Prince George, Vanderhoof and Ootsa Lake. Steller Jay~-Cyanocitta stelleri (Gnelin). Reports were received of the occurrence of this species in winter at Puntchesakut Lake, Bouchie Lake, Francois Lake, White- sail Lake and Smithers None was personally observed 88 -
