“The Chapel”—as sketched from imagination by one of the Students, Percy Barton. Coqualeetza Chapel F und The above sketch by Percy Barton of the Senior Classroom was made hurriedly. It is not to be taken as an exact picture of Coqualeetza’s prospective Chapel, but to bring before us in a vivid manner the fact that the time has arrived when we should commence a campaign to raise the funds necessary for its erection. The objective is $10,000. Fifteen years ago the Principal received $2.50 to be applied to some object for the benefit of tha School. As there had been felt the need of a chapel, he opened a savings account in the Bank of Toronto, Vancouver, No. 2245, and had a vision of a sacred edifice for religious service. Once a year on Graduation Sunday an offering has been taken for this purpose. The manual training class made an offertory box. This stands in the entrance hall of the School. Any small amount visitors, the staff and pupils feel disposed to drop in is gratefully received. This box is opened at the end of each month and the offering is sent to the bank. The Chapel Fund stands now at $1,280. ‘The interest is added every six months. The first interest was two cents. The last on the 31st of May was $18.54. It has been worth while taking care of the pennies. We have received also a few large voluntary subscriptions. For these we are grateful. Now the time is ripe for a campaign to raise funds. We urgently appeal to the graduates and ex-pupils for donations. We appeal to the Alumni Associations to make this cause their objective. We appeal to the parents whose children will be future pupils attending Coqua- Teetza, and receive the real benefit of the undertaking. We appeal to former members of the staff whose interest in the school has not waned. We appeal to friends of the Native people. As soon as we have sufficient funds in hand to justify we will “Arise and build.” \Wigaizeres Representatives of the Government who have visited Coqualeetza officially during the year include: CoLoneEL G.
