Be HEHE NH HF The Girl Guides, Brownies and Ranger groups enjoyed a very busy season in Cassiar this past year, and we have several highlights from these groups. On June 5th a Mother & Daughter Banquet was attended by 75 mothers, girls, leaders and guests, and badges and certificates were presented to girls in all groups. Girls 7 — 10 years old are invited to join the Brownie group and learn all the fascinating things taught by Mrs. Overton and her helpers. Mrs. Akey distributed badges to the guides who earned them, and encouraged interested girls aged 10 — 14 to join the Girl Guide group. The Rangers, aged 14 and up, would like to see more young ladies join their group and learn cooking, sewing, home nursing and many other skills, taught by Mrs. Maxson. In May, A Mothers’ Day Tea, sponsored by the Parents Committee was held and was very successful. Proceeds from this tea and the other efforts by the girls, plus help from the Cassiar Lions, will see 4 young guides off to Guides Camp at Taylor, B.C. The lucky girls are B. Tomashewski, M. Massin, L. Maxson and G. Maxson. Thanks to the girls the Lions and the parents for allowing the girls this opportunity. A weekend camp out for the Guides and Rangers was held May 31 — June 1. Though it rained and shortened the trip by a day, it was fun and the girls enjoyed themselves. That same weekend the Brownies picnicked at Chain Lake and were lucky enough to escape the rain. Brownie, Guide and Ranger groups all over Canada enjoy a large variety of interesting and knowledgeable teaching by interested and knowledgeable leaders. Why not join your age group when they start up again in the fall.
