The weekend games of the 13th- Robison says that he was impressed with the character the team showed by continuing to play hard. 14th proved critical for the men and women, pointing each of the teams in the direction that they now must take to reach their goal. The women’s team lost both of their games, 60-38 against UCFV and 63-56 against OUC, making it especially critical to win all three of their last games of the season. It has been a bit of a struggle for the women, with only nine players, after forward Miranda Kenna suf- fered some torn ligaments in her ankle the previous weekend. Head Coach, Loralyn Murdoch, is positive that Kenna will be back in play for the last couple of games, thanks to intense physiotherapy. Murdoch says that the team has been working hard, despite a disap- pointing loss against OUC Saturday night. “T’m really happy how the team’s coming together,” she says. “They, all as a team, collectively, weren’t happy with Saturday’s performance and they’re all wanting to improve on that.” The men’s team had their troubles on the trip as well, missing Phil Nadrazsky, who went to the all- native tournament in Prince Rupert and losing Alex Nadrazsky and Jeff Dolan due to injuries. Alex Nadrazsky suffered-an injury to his foot/ankle in Friday’s game, while Dolan experienced a blown eardrum due to sickness. Men’s Head Coach, Zane Robison, was still happy with the way his team never gave up after los- ing Alex, one of their top scorers. They were down by 18 with three minutes to go, and brought the score up to within three points, before los- ing by only seven. The final score against UCFV, who is tied for first in the province, was 76-69. Robison says that he was impressed with the character the team showed by continuing to play hard, as players like Brad Beswick and Brett Stewart, who finished with 24 points, really stepped up. “Twas very happy with the way we played,” he says. “These guys want to wn and they warit to play hard.” 10 FEBRUARY 25, 2004 T-Wolves basketball teams pushing for playoff spots Saturday night’s game gave the men better results, as they beat OUC 87-77, despite having to play the last minute very undersized, as all the forwards had been fouled out. With playoffs right around the corner, both teams are focusing hard on their last three games. “We’re still going game by game, trying to get better as a team.” Robison says that in order to guar- antee a playoff spot, he needs to win two of the last three, but he feels very confidant because his team is so motivated. “I believe we have a very good shot,” he says, although a lot depends right now on Alex Nadrazsky. “But this team has proven that they’ve won without him and they’ve played well without him.” Murdoch is focusing on cach game as it comes. “We're still going game by game, trying to get better as a team,” she says. “We have a different focus for both nights fof the 20th-21st week- end], so the girls know exactly what they necd to do for cach team.”
