Page 6 were CHIMS = CORNER — ‘4 4 A few of the residents of Cassiar held a meeting on January 12th to find out if there were enough people interested in forming a diet club. [In spite of the 20 below weather, there were 14 people who turned up. There are most likely far more than 14 that would like to lose some of those excess pounds and do start on various diets but have a hard time to stay with their diet, and the first thing you know, you are back..heavier than ever. With a group all with the same object in mind, it sometimes makes it easier to stay with your plans of taking off those pounds. Dr. Walsh was present at the first meeting to give advice on the Proper methods of dieting. He also advised that crash diets are not recommended, the best method is to change your habits of eating, to obtain the proper nutrition for good health. There will be a meeting of the club each Wednesday evening in the Community Centre at 8:00 in the Lions Room. We are still trying to squeeze more shelves into the dry goods store. We have now to wait for the merchandise in which to fill them. We are having rather difficulty in obtaining as most of the manufacturers are sold out at the moment because of the Christmas rush. BV E ReXYAON £ Lae WELCOME Look forward for seeing things from Corning and also Onedia ware in the near future. Also we are expecting table lamps and hanging lamps within the next three weeks. If there are any lamps that you may want to order, just ask one of the girls as we have many catalogues. Unfortunately our man in the meat department will be leaving us soon to go into the meat cutting business in Whitehorse. We all wish him the best of luck and success in his new venture. To replace Brent we would like to -welcome Peter O'Hea. Peter has lots of experience working for various chains across the country, so you can count on him to fill your needs in the meat department. In the grocery store we have a new item, which is frozen condensed milk. Everyone should have a quart in their freezer. This milk is a homogenized milk similar to the other fresh milk which we now carry, just that the water has been removed. All you have to do is to have it thaw out and add two quarts of water. As one quart of Trimilk makes three quarts of fresh milk while frozen, this will take up less room in your freezer. WEATHER CONDITIONS IN CALIFORNIA GROWING AREAS Cold weather and lack of rain is slowing crop growth on several green items and is causing some frost damage on others. Cauliflower, seem to be the items hurt lettuce, broccoli, and variety lettuce the most by this situation. Retail Stores HAVE A GOOD MONTH!’ Your SE SAS SN NAS SSN SAN SUR NON CERCA CACS. We only have so many dollars for the removal of snow and towing away parked cars is not only expensive but also delays the process of snow removal. Your co-operation will be appreciated.
