GENERAL SAFETY RULES If in doubt as to the meaning of any rule, ask your immediate supervisor. Be sure to get first aid, even for a small scratch. Ne- glecting to get first aid can be serious and may eventually prevent you from receiving compensation. All injuries must be reported to your foreman before leaving at the end of the shift. -Failure to report an injury can lead to suspension from duty. Obey all safety signs - they are posted for your pro- tection. Anyone tampering with safeguards or safety signs will be liable to dismissal. Anyone reporting for work under the influence of liquor or appearing in the cookery in a like condition will be sent home. Anyone found at work while under the in- fluence of liquor will be discharged immediately. Before work is undertaken on machinery which forms part of a circuit, every workman so engaged is required to lock the machinery out of circuit so as to ensure against injury from accidental start-up. Horseplay is prohibited and infractions of this rule will not be tolerated. Keep your work-place clean. Hazards are at a mini- mum when working places are kept in order. Clean up oil and grease spills immediately. Be sure to take adequate precautions when men are working below you. Men must be warned, warning signs placed and guards should be used when required by the job. In case of fire, ring the boiler house - No. 7204, and then the fire marshall at No. 7238 or No. 7222. An outbreak of fire is announced by the sounding of the fire siren. The various fire calls are posted throughout the camp and employees should memorize them. Your help may be needed but wait until you are given a specific duty by the fire marshall. Keep approaches to fire extinguishers and hoses clear. Acquaint yourself with the location of the fire equip- ment, especially in your particular place of employment and learn which extinguishers are to be used for each type of fire which may occur, E7
