Elected were Janice Gray, Bruce Spracklin and Bob Bliss. Despite the wide publicity, the general turnout was poor. Some of the reasons given were pitiful and |! don’t intend wasting any space in this column dealing with them. The C.C.C. executive consists of nine directors, two of these being company representatives. Of the remaining seven a president and a vice-president are elected within the executive and those positions are held for 12 months. This past year the president was Don Toth and vice- president was Sherry Sethan. Unfortunately, Don leaves us this year, along with Heather Fugere and Dave Pewsey and while the executive is somewhat saddened by their de- parture, they can rest assured that their successors are highly competent and join us with excellent credentials. In all six members were nominated for just three posi- tions and | take this opportunity, on behalf of the executive, to thank Marvel Knudslien, Cary Bucar and Paul Brohman who, although not elected, showed en- ough interest in C.C.C. activities to want to become in- volved. ; The six elected members of the Cassiar Community Club executive are Sherry Sethan, Oliver Leckie, John Gwillam, Bruce Spracklin, Bob Bliss, Janice Gray and Roy Clements and the two Company respresentatives are Ed Komperdo and Charlie MacQuarrie. a So come you people — give us your reasons for com- plaints. CASSIAR FLOAT A WINNER The Cassiar entry in this years Sourdough Rendez vous Parade took top honours under the Best Group Float. The theme of the float this year was CASSIAR, B.C. - HOME OF THE SUMMER OLYMPICS 1980. The float depicted the news of the day such as the Ayatullah Khomeini, who was the judge on the float - the Russian Hockey Player who was dressed in the typical hockey garb, com- plete with the C.C.C.P. lettering on the sweater. Other participants on the float were the Cassiar Kid - the Bicycler - the Weight Lifter - the Torch Bearer - and our own Nadia Kominech, the Rum- anian Gymnast, along with the Referee and Ann- ouncer. The tractor and deck were donated by Arrow Transport of Stewart, B.C. and the driv- ers were Dave and Jack, who worked very hard in shining up the float and repainting the wheels. Our thanks to Igloo Sporting Goods, Kelly’s Ste- reo Mart, John Gillis, Arrow Transport Division, Jean’s Draperies, Klondike Inn, and last of all the participants on the float, and the workers who made the float a huge success. Other items over the weekend were the combina- tion disco and dance in the Klondike Ballroom with the Town of Faro, and the various events that Cassiarites participated in. Over sixty people represented the Town of Cassiar at this year’s Rendezvous, and a good time was had by all.
