HARRISON AIRLINES DO-3 AIRCRAFT LANDS ON CASSIAR AIRSTRIP Tuesday June 8th, 1971 was another milestone in the history of aviation for the Cassiar area. A small group of interested citizens gathered at the Cassiar Airstrip to witness the landing and take off of the DC-3 Aircraft - the first aircraft of this type or size to land or take off from this airstrip. The Harrison Airlines aircraft was flown by Captain D. Spence and Co-pilot G. Malton. The aircraft made an easy landing at 3:00 p.m. with a load of eight passengers, some freight and baggage and took off 12 minutes later with two passengers. The eight passengers were employees of "Inspiration" a drilling contractor firm who is presently employed by the Company. The question of local populance is, can we dare hope for scheduled flights like this from Vancouver to Cassiar and return in the near future? Continue to dream folks, maybe that 2% hour road trip to Watson Airport may be avoided yet: Some dreams do have a habit of becoming a reality. ee DC-3 on landing Captain D. Spence Page ]
