It is possible that indigenous plants could be made the
starting-point for cross-breeding of new fodder crops. Some
bryophytes are said to have nutritional value when harvested
and dried, and perhaps varieties exist in the northern
regions that could be utilized as crop on extensive waste-
lands sufficiently level to permit harvesting by simple

machinery. These mosses could then be used in ensilage
mixtures for feeding stock.

To show the variation of temperature from year to
year and also of precipitation, a few diagrams for typical
stations are appended.
