. REE REET RE SHEN SAFETY NOTLS - After a bad month accident=-wise in January, it is gratifying to note that the first half of February has produced only 6 minor recorded accidents. If we represent our accident record (& that of others) by means of a graph, at first glance the line appears to wander up and down without apparent meaning. But this is not the case. When the line goes up in order to record a large maeber of accidents, it means either :; (a) That control ° of accident prevention has been ost or (b) That it was never actually achieved, and very often it is the latter case, What constitutes control of accident prevention? The answer is that it is the level of safety consciousness on the job. Safety consciousness is an abstract - term and people tend to avoid abstract terms and think of them as representing sonething mysterious and difficult. Not so in this case. Safety conscious- ness simply means keeping mind at all times the possibility of injury and guarding against its occurrence. There is no one on this property that cannot understand this. if carried out properly, 9 out of 10 accidents will be prevented. If we fail to do so, then we are not working effectively and we are not in control of the job or our own actions. It is just that simple. Ce Church 2 Safety Engineer VOTE THE VOTE FOR MICKEY.
