Anyway, this review is dedicated to the craziest shou- jo (girl’s style) anime ever, His and Hers Circumstances, or Kare Kano. In true romance style, two main characters are destined for romantic love, but at first they are totally at odds. However, since His and Hers Circumstances was made by studio Gainax (FLCL, Evangelion) this show also has a heavy CRAZY streak. To set all of your poor minds at ease, the staff of Anime Review ukino Miyazawa, the heroine of the show seems like a per- fectly nice model student, for all of about 30 seconds, then she reveals her shallow, manipulative inner nature, seeking only praise from her peers and ready to step on anyone to become top of her class, including the hero, Souichirou Arima. His and Hers Circumstances is extremely funny because the main characters are so easy to laugh at. While this is a shoujo anime, both sexes can easily enjoy it. | watched with 3 male friends, and they were all intrigued by how weird and funny it was. CCA have organized the first UNBC Mah Jong Tournament this coming friday, October 25th, 2002 at the UNBC cafe- teria. For those not in the know, Mah Jong is the extremely popular asian game of chance and skill that makes a trip to the casino look like a hand of ‘go fish’. If you are clueless, but would like to learn, we'll have instructors who are gonna show you exactly what this legendary game is all about. If you are already an experience player, be prepared for quite a chal- lenge from a number of our ere is also a decent amount of romantic development, so fans of the genre will not be disappointed. The only drawback is that there is a lot of Japanese text that flashes up onto the screen during the show, and watching it subtitled can clutter. up the screen with up to 5 separate sets! Fortunately, the dub is excellent, so any anime per- fectionists aren’t missing out on anything. Overall, His and Her Circumstances is a sur- prisingly good show, and fun for the whole family. 4 Ninjas out of 5! accomplished players.
