dn the Peace River Foothills all of ‘the ‘exvosed Triassi¢ strata heve
been included in the Schooler Creek formation. However, -it is thought that
they can be divided into at least three lithological subdivisions’, which
experience may demonstrate to be mappable units and ‘to be worthy. of
recognition as formations, namely: -

with the Nathorstites fauna at the ‘base: and the Mehagfy:Cliffs and Limat- -
poyana faynas above;-further subdivision of ‘this unit may not dé impdéssible,
but so far has not oroved feasible.. The 'Dark siltstones! “inelude dark, <*
..ghely, calcareous: siltstones; dark limestone, éte., and carry: the Nathorstites
fauna. The name is only~a ‘convenient, temporary; @xoddient, ‘aid it is
only: partly descriptive. of the litholozy of this unit, for dar'c‘siltstones
. also occur -in-the Pardonet ‘beds and in the Toad formation. It' ts not known
what directly underlies the ‘Dark siltstones! in Peace River Valley. The
future of ‘the name "Schooler Creek" is also uncertain, if the above lithological
Nid essen recognized as formations; it may, however, ‘survive as a group name.

In Halfway and Sikanni CBee Aeroee: it seems possible to recognize the

above three units on the ae of ‘both 1ithological and faunal evidence,
