Page 8 The Touring De Wayne Bros. Circus Was in a The DeWayne Bros. Circus made it back to Cassiar for the second time and as last ae year they came in the rain, but were fortunate that the sun came out before the afternoon | own performance. The Circus have toured the Western U.S.A. and a number of towns in British Columbia such as Vancouver, Victoria, Prince George, Kitimat, Terrace and Stewart. They _ travelled up the Stewart highway to Cassiar on their route to Whitehorse, Fairbanks’ and Anchorage. The show ts a family type with no side shows or gambling which usually travel with a circus. The acrobats and trapeze artists were first rate and the ponies, chimpanzees and "Bimbo" the elephant were great attractions for the children of Cassiar, as well as the adults, especially for the many who have never seen an elephant before. The candy floss, snowcones, popcorn, pop and hot dogs were a real treat to the children and even some of the adults were smacking their lips. - The DeWayne family were quite impressed with our town, and thought the meals in the cafe- teria were wonderful. They would have liked to stay longer, but as they have a schedule to meet they had to be on their way. Usually in more populated areas they put on a show each day, moving to the next town during the night, which makes for a pretty hectic schedule, but they have been doing this for years and enjoy the life. The highlight of the performance was our own local product, JUMPING JOE FITZSIMMONS , the only man in Cassiar to ride a performing elephant. He went through the whole bag of tricks, even riding bareback. The only thing Joe lacked was his Cowboy* hat. MISS FAYE | Miss Suzette with her trained Shetlands.
