March 18 2002 Letters Over The Edge Page 5 Imagin By Anonymous Imagine a university that was proactive. Imagine a uni- versity that provided and actively sought opportunities for its members. Imagine a university that prided itself in its international make-up, yet ignored a proposition from a foreign university to develop an exchange program where their students could come here, and our students could go there to gain rea!, hands-on English (conversational) teaching experience. Imagine a university that ignored this opportunity for its students. Imagine a university teach- ing its first year students the downfalls of monopoly as increasing costs. Imagine these costs being absorbed by the cash-strapped student. Imagine the opportunity that could be created by a com- merce class working and oper- ating on the local concessions as a real life experience — in- class, hands-on experience. Now imagine a_ university jumping at these opportuni- ties! By Graham Lazarovich The B.C. Liberals are not investing in your future. What they are doing, as they said they were planning on doing from the start, is opening the province up for investment by foreign companies. They are accomplishing this by putting people out of work and taking power away from unions. This creates a shortage of high- paying jobs and a massive pool of unemployed workers. A desperate, unemployed popu- lation is the perfect environ- ment for corporate exploition: people are more willing to. accept low wages and sub- standard working conditions when there are no better options. These are the same tactics used in third world countries to spur investments. Have you ever noticed how many large corporations have “invested” in cheap, exploited third world labour? And who benefit from B.C’s powerless, desperate labour force? The same corporate conglomerate who paid for the B.C. Liberals’ campaign, the same ones who will pay for the next media manipulation in the next elec- tion. Why are we letting this go on? There should have been a massive general strike the day the Liberals imposed a con- tract on the teachers and tore up closed contracts. This situa- Ql Investing in BC’s Future tion is all-encompasing; nobody is unaffected. The peo- ple have the power; we are the system - we make it happen, we can change it. Don’t think for a second that the Liberals are investing in your future by conquering the labour force. Corporations will do nothing but exploit the pop- ulation. They will give you the least they can get away with for the most amount of work. Without the influence of unions, collective bargaining, and access to higher educa- tion, the working class is stuck in a situation where they have to take what they get — and what we get won't be much. Bush’s Orchestrated War Effort By Graham Lazarovich Did you know that George W. Bush’s grandfather was involved in a 20th century North American eugenics movement? | bet you didn’t. How about the fact that the US military already had an inva- sion of Afghanistan planned before the September 11th attacks? That's a funny one now, isn’t it? Were you aware that George W. Bush’s admin- istration sent millions of dollars to the Taliban prior to Sept. 11 for “fighting drugs”? The main- stream media seems to over- look things like this. | think | know why. The USA/European insiders orchestrated the September 11th attacks by funding the Over The Edge appreciates every student’s opinion, and Taliban and al-Quaeda with money for “fighting drugs.” The USA had an invasion of Afghanistan planned before September 11th with an October deadline. Some infor- mation linking Osama _ bin Laden as a former CIA opera- tive points to George Bush and his Freemason cohorts as the people behind the carnage. The American occupation of Afghanistan and Israéli incen- diary actions, along with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank’s manipulation of interest rates, is all designed to incite World War Ill. International banks deter- mine a country’s economy, not the people, not the govern- ment. They can, by manipulat- ing interest rates, cripple a country’s economy. They are doing this now to further instill fear into the first-world popula- tions. With population in fear and economic turmoil, it is easy to go to war; it has hap- pened before! The anti-freedom laws hastily put into effect after September 11th serve to silence those who oppose cor- porate control, globalization, and war under the guise of ter- rorism. Look up the US Congress’s_ definition and you'll see that it includes everyone who protests against the WTO, the World Bank, and globalization. This gives states the legal precedent to lock up protesters indefinitely without trial and increase the scope of government surveillance. This does not include Freedom! The insiders are attempting to start WWIII so international bankers can make billions of dollars funding both sides as they have for over 100 years. Also, like they tried with the League of Nations after WWI and the United Nations after WWII, the insiders will instill the final stages of world gov- ernment after the third war. This will be the full extension of the anti-freedom laws cur- rently enacted. It will be absolute State Control over the people. What they try to tell you is that there is nothing you can do about it, but that is not true. The people have all the power — kill your TV, Free Your Mind, Become the Media, Live By Your Principles! No tyrannical leader or cor- porate conglomerate has done anything without thousands of uninformed, manipulated citi- zens to constitute the system.
