The team they played included two UNBC students who had made the men’s team, but quit for various rea- sons. Both teams were very emotional about the game. The last: minute of the game was intense. The opponents tied the score with a three point shot. The score was 53-53 with 47 seconds remaining. The Timberwolves called a time-out, and planned their strategy. Their play was not going well, as the clock ticked down they couldn't find an open man. With 5 seconds remaining Bruce Muir shot from three point land. The shot was horri- ble and the rebound went straight down. Brian Box was standing under the hoop. He grabbed the ball and with only seconds left layed it up. The ball wob- bled for a second before finally going in. The timers added .8 seconds to the clock, and the opponents got one final chance to score. With a great defensive effort in that final second the Timberwolves stopped the opponents and advanced to the semi-final. Lee Huebert made a spectacular dunk five min- utes into the game, but this seemed to fire up the other team. The score was close after the first half. Collin McCann, playing with a broken finger, really came through for the wolves. In the second half he hit sev- eral three-point shots, and he made a few other out- side shots. Bruce Muir said “We played well as a team and we stuck to our game plan. Our offense wasn’t as good as we liked, but our defense kept us in the game.” There was a point when the Timberwolves scored five points and the opponents scored 15, at this point | was question- ing the team work. Bruce continued by saying “Lee Huebert and Collin McCann really came through for us today. Lee working the inside and Collin shooting from the outside kept us in it.” Zane Robison said “Now that the first place team defaulted we have to beat the eight placed team to advance to the final. | think. we have a good chance at winning the champi- onship.” The team will travel to Kelowna for the Provincial Championships held from April 3 to 5. On Monday March 23 The Timberwolves beat the Rebels 61-45. This win advanced them to the final round of the playoffs.
