Our April activities have given us a positive ending to the 1988/89 hockey season. During Spring Break four of Cassiar's Atom players joined the Watson Lake Atoms to travel to Vancouver to participate in the Hastings Annual Spring ie Oa Tournament. David Hardy, Jody Harrison, and Andrew and Ken . Smith played some smooth hockey with the Watson Lake team to win an exhibition game March 28 against the host team 20 to 2. Their first tournament game Wednesday against White Rock was a 4 to 6 win followed by another exhibition game win 9 to 4. They beat the Vancouver T-Birds 23 to 3 on Thursday and lost a_ game Friday against Port Moody 4 to 6. Their win/loss record placed them first in their group so _ they played an early Saturday semi- final game against Aldergrove winning 7 to 2. They then played in the championship game Saturday afternoon winning 8 to 1 and returning home with the championship trophy. Each of the three who played forward were awarded with some assists and Jody had 3 goals, David had 2 goals and Andrew had 14 goals. All of our gymnasts performed very well. We were treated to some Rhythmic Gymnastics by our seniors who performed and choreographed all of their routines. We saw a small demonstration of the use of a safety belt which was purchased to assist gymnasts learn- ing flips and jumps. A safety belt has also arrived which is hooked up to an overhead support system. The afternoon closed with a presentation of trophies and awards.
