Over The Edge Page 10 FASHION February 24, 1998 NUGSS Fashion Show An Event For All By Michelle Berard For ail those that missed the NUGSS Valentine’s fashion show on February 10, you missed one heck of a good time. Most of the clothing, sponsored by The Bay, were laid back outfits that could easily be worn to school, with the exception of the lingerie and pajama section. NUGSS also did a wonder- ful job of transforming the upper cafeteria into a room filled with atmosphere. They had large flower arrange- ments, courtesy of Growers Direct, placed at the foot of both staircases, and covered all the tables with bowls of valentine's candy, samples of Estee Lauder’s Pleasures (in both its male and female forms), and cute little teddy bear shaped confetti. Each model showed off three outfits, each of which they had had the freedom to choose themselves, unless the clothing had already been picked by another model. The Bay made a pointed eae UNBC wear anyone? the latest trends were on dis- |a play for everyone to check out. Deadline for submission is Tuesday at Spm. Over The Edge the student Newspaper of UNBC (250) 960-5633 = te effort to show off each line of jeanswear they carried. The models also tossed on an article of UNBC clothing over their outfits for the first round of the floor. The first outfits modeled were basically jeans - and casual clothes, the sec- ond being slightly dressier, and the last being lingerie and PJ's. The braver models (and the clowns) were easy to spot in the last round, as they strut- ted their stuff in boxer shorts and chemises. Each model was given a white rose to present to a member of the crowd. Some models pre- sentations went a little over- ‘board, as they passed the rose to audience members in their teeth, jokingly hit on other models grandmothers, and slid down the bannister. The models were given gift bags at the end of the evening containing items such as_ perfume/cologne, makeup bags, and socks. These were povided by The Bay as a token of their appreciation for the models’ participation. The Bay also offered a discounted price on clothes worn by each model, if the models were inter- ested in purchas- ing them. Pretty good deal for one evening’s work - or play. Allin all, it was an extremely fun evening, and | would __ certainly recommend checking out another fashion show put on by NUGSS. | would also recommend volunteering to be model, since they had as much fun, if not more, ‘| than the audience.
