REJEAN and MAGGIE GIRARDIN are living in Rich- mond, Quebec where they own and operate a restaurant. They are said to serve the best chicken in the world! LOTHAR KUTZ is living on Saltspring Island, along with FRED and BIDDEN SCHMIDT-NIELSEN. Lothar works at the Post Office there with Fred. JOE, PAM, JOEY and SHAWN SOLAR moved to Port Colborne, Ontario where Joe is very busy at his trade, building cabinets. Pam is taking a break before getting into the workforce again. ELIZABETH FIORELLA and family can be found in Port Elgin, Ontario where she is trying to start a business. LOUIS and ANNE MASSIN are living in Parksville, B.C. Enjoying their retirement, they are also taking great pride in their son Alan’s athletic achievements, especially in his skiing. OSKAR and ERNA DAUM are enjoying retirement as well, though in Chilliwack, B.C. HERBERT DAUM is married and living in Powell River, studying to become a fisheries officer. He still spends his spare time fishing and taking photographs. RUPERT and MARJ MacKEWNZIE are taking it easy, and enjoying the time retirement allows. Sad news is that both their son, Doug, and daughter, Caro! (Skakun) have cancer. JIM and FREDA FORBES travelled from their home in Ajax, Ontario to Alberta for their grandsons’ graduation (the twin sons of John and Dianne Forbes). . MIKE and PAT PINTER and family are located in Toron- to where Mike works as a plumber and Pat is-employed with one of the banks. HELEN BALLOCK js working at Eaton’s in Vancouver in the Ladies’ Alterations Department as a seamstress. She is looking forward to her almost-due retirement. ROBERT and GERTRUDE MARTSCHIN are still oper- ating their Robolex business in Dawson Creek, B.C. They have a son, Peter, who was born shortly after they left Cassiar. HANS, RENATA and ANDREA RUDZINSKY had an addition to the family shortly after they left Cassiar. Daughter Melanie lives with all of them in Sparwood. HANS and DIANNE BIEGER are in Calgary, Alberta where Hans teaches his culinary skills at the university. STEVE, INGE, TOM and DIANNA CURILA moved from Cassiar to Victoria, B.C. BROCK, HEATHER and CONNOR BAILEY keep busy in Williams Lake where Brock is still a game warden and he also operates his backhoe. Heather is still nursing. DAVE and. SHERRY SCOTT made a decision to move further north when they left Cassiar. Now living in Inuvik, Dave still works for Finning. Their family has grown over the years with the addition of three children. DAN STOBBS is living in Ft. McMurray, Alberta. Now married, he has a son and a daughter. Also living in the northern Alberta city are AUGUST, ROSE, RYAN and CARLA EBBINGHOFF, and BRANKO GOLUBIN who is working as a mechanic for the city. He is now married with one son and one daughter. STAN, MARTA, STAN Jr. and RADO TRAVNIK are in Devon, Alberta where Marta works for a local hos- pital. Stan is recovering from back surgery performed in December. PAUL and MARLENE HOOD moved south to Grand Forks, B.C. where Paul is still teaching at Christina Lake. Shortly after they left Cassiar in the late ‘70s, they were Joined by daughters Misty and Chelsey. KATE and PAUL SEVIER announced the arrival of Jack Robert on December 4, 1986 in Young, Australia. The family is planning to build a guest suite into the plans of their new home, for all would-be visitors. ESTHER CLOAKEY has settled down in Kemano, B.C. after marrying a resident, Glen Craig, in August of 1986. DR. IAN McCALL visited Cassiar this fall, renewing old acquaintances at the hospital. He and MEG now live in West Vancouver. WALLY and ANN JUDGE live at Tom Price, West Aus- tralia. They are both busy and well and are planning to return to Canada when the Australian taxes get too high! ZOE FOSTER, wife of the late Rev. ERIC FOSTER, is now living in Victoria, B.C. among the green grass and flowers. PETER and PAULINE SNELL and family are happily settled back in Whitehorse. Peter is working full-time at Whitehorse General and Pauline does some relief work. The whole family says “hi” to all their friends in Cassiar. MERV and BETTY ANN PRIER, and sons NATHAN and MATTHEW moved to Cap Rouge, Quebec. Merv is doing well at school and Betty Ann’s French is not getting much of a workout as she is staying at home with the boys. They are doing well and miss everyone. INES and VITO COMPER are enjoying their retirement in Westbank, with gardening and the beautiful Okanogan weather among the highlights. They still make numerous trips to Italy. They truly enjoyed their Xmas Eve sur- prise when WALTER showed _up for a quick visit, the first time in many years that the family were all together for the festive season. Kelowna is also the home of MARVEL and FRANK NITTI who operate the “Nitti Hotel”, or so it seems. This past summer saw a steady stream of Cassiarites. Joining the Italian community in Kelowna this past fall were GINA and ROBERT DURI. We hear that retirement is fun, bingo is every other day and life is definitely being enjoyed. Other Cassiarites in the sunny south community of Kelowna are ADOLF and MARIE PENNO, and MARIA CVETKOVICH. Maria has a “creperie” in the new mall. In the same area, you can find JOE and MARIA GOMES. Maria is now on the mend after being hit by a car. FATHER POULLET celebrated his 50th anniversary as a priest in Fort Nelson in June and 49 of those years have been spent in the North. -. between. Dawson City, Lower Post, Cassiar and Fort Nelson. DAVE and MARION COOK are still living in Winnipeg. KEN is now posted to Comox and is 5 glad to be near some “Cassiar friends”. BOB and JUDY FITZSIMMONS have been transferred to Rosedale, B.C. where there are 60 members in the detachment. Judy is curling only once a week and we understand she suffers from withdrawal symptoms. GERRY and HILDA COOPER are now living at Faro. They were in Cassiar for a few days at Xmas and Hilda says “There’s no place like Cassiar!” JACK and JOYCE THORNICROFT enjoyed a visit with Eleanor and Jack Berry in October. Jack also came out west to Expo this summer. Joyce tells us that Jemmie Beguin was married during the summer. We wondered just what had happened to JIM GILPIN until we were listening to CBC Radio this week. Seems his job with the Yukon Government isn’t so busy that he doesn’t get time to train. He won a cross-country race in Whitehorse recently. Same old Jim! ERIC GLYN-JONES is living in Vancouver where he is reforming (2) and forming a new band which will be on tour at the end of February in Smithers.. Mr. Bubbles says hi to all the smaller Cassiar folk. ELLY MacMASTER is working for C.P. Air in Vancouver, and is doing quite a bit of globe trotting. FRANK and IRENE GRICNIK own and operate a bus- iness making cabinets in Hamilton, Ontario. ELLEN ARCHIBALD (nee Kartio) who came back to Cassiar for a second time in 1975 is now in Garrick, - Saskatchewan where she is married and has three boys. GEORGE HAINES moved to Prince George, married and now has two children. GRAHAM BAKER is running a car dealershio in Victoria, B.C. He has also married since leaving Cassiar. PAULA HAMILTON is working in a bank north of here. The cold obviously doesn’t deter her; she’s in Anchorage, Alaska. KARL and HEDWIG SCHULZ are in Fraser Lake, B.C. where Karl works for Endako Mines. Their sons Thomas and Robert work at the saw mill in Fraser Lake. Their youngest daughter, born shortly after leaving Cassiar, is still in high school. Karl and Hedwig celebrated their silver wedding anniversary this last October. MICHELINE ROBIDOUX and CHARLES CADORET had a son, Simon, shortly after their move to Quebec. ANDRE, PIERRETTE and daughter CATHERINE CHARBONNEAU were joined by a son after their move to Bellefeuille, Quebec. AL and PAT BEATON and family are living in North Vancouver where Al is running his own consulting busi- ness and Pat is involved in writing a book about Erickson. SHEILA and DON BEST have recently bought a home in Kelowna. Sheila is working as a real estate agent and Don is working for an investment firm. RAY and SHAWN HAMILTON and son DRUE are pre- sently in Winnipeg, where Ray is teaching. MIKE and INA PENNOCK are still in Tumbler Ridge where Mike is working for Quintette Coal. Ina is involved with the church and the two boys are busy with school. Former Finning personnel have found Kamloops a nice place to settle. JANE and JOHN ZEBROFF, and PAUL and MARIE BRAND have moved to this Interior city. Both Paul and John are still working for Finning. CHRIS and JOHN SHEPHERD’S restaurant business in Burnaby, B.C. is flourishing, we hear. No doubt the warm weather is a pleasant change. PETER and BETTY CARTWRIGHT are still working on their house in Victoria. BRUCE and: USCH/ LECKIE were up to Cassiar for a visit at Xmas time. Both are still in school in Edmonton. LARRY SPACZYNSKY is living in Sherwood Park, Alberta but misses his cabin on Chain Lake. He was back for a visit in September. DANNY DEMITRI says “Hello” to all his friends in Cas- siar. He is still waiting for all those visitors in Soleto, Italy STAN and MAUREEN HOWARD are in Dawson Creek where Stan is with Kal Tire, commuting to Tumbler Ridge ED, LISA, JENNIFER and JONATHON SPETCH are in Jenner, Alberta (right, Jenny?) where Ed is the Principal at the local school. Lisa misses her friends as Jenner is quite small, in a rural area. Coffee-hopping doesn’t last long. ED CRAFT has finally joined MARION in Smithers, but were not sure how long they'll be there. Still, Marion has managed to get involved with the church and is lay-read- ing once again. We miss your churchmice sketches Marion RON and JAN SWEENEY and family have settled into the Soo, having bought a house. Ron is busy with the new job and Jan is working at a retirement home full- time. RONDA is involved with friends and swimming. CHARIS is playing hockey and playing a trombone in the school orchestra. KEVIN is very involved and happy. FIONA and TIM CAREW and family are also enjoying the - sun, living in North Vancouver where Tim is working for a consulting firm. Fiona is working in a shop in the area. BERND GUDERJAHN is going to school in Burnaby. STEFAN DYK’S job took him down to Vancouver, and he, ALICE, JAMES and WENDY are living in Port Co- quitlam. No doubt Alice gets lonely occasionally as Stefan’s new job involves considerable travel. OLIVER and COLLEEN LECKIE have moved north to Whitehorse where Oliver is retired during the winter but who still placer mines as soon as spring thaw permits. JAMES LECKI/E will be completing his X-Ray and Lab Technician training at the Miseracordia Hospital in Edmon ton, Alberta this June (with top marks, from all reports). BEV NESGAARD and her husband JOHN are living with their two children in Atlin, where Bev is teaching. John is working at Mt. Skukum. KEITH and SANDRA JONES are south of the border, in Nevada. Last we heard, their home was in Las Vegas. LOIS and TOM McGRAIL are in Leduc, Alberta. Their daughter ERIN is very involved in swimming and is com- peting in Winter Club meets. Tom is at Mt. Skukum and has a long commute.
