We Do Asbestos We Can What is a friend? A friend is a person with which one shares a common denominator. A friend can be of the opposite or the same sex as oneself, and mav or mav not be of the same race, colour, creed or social back- ground. A friend is one who, when you are just plain broke, will lend vou a couple of bucks not expecting it back by anv specific time, but knowing full well that the favour will be returned at some future date. A friend is the guy who is always willing to go to the bar for a couple of beers with vou, even though he may not really feel like drinking at that particular time. A friend is the chick that is alwavs there when it scems that everw other chick in the world jilted vou. If a friend hails from a different citv, or even a different countrv, his is the place vou know vou can alvavs crash whenever vou happen to be passing through his neck of the voods. ; For a friendship to successfully exist, it must alwavs be a two wavy proposition. Friends must alwavs, to some extent, learn to put up with each others idiocvncrasies, tastes in music, etc.,but their concerts of what is meant by having a good time are invariably the same. A friend is one vou know very vell will never rip vou off - one vou would give the extra kev to your room to just so he could use vour stereo wien vou are on a different shifts. True friendsii»y, is founded on under- standing and trust and when tivo neoples' paths cross and thev find thev understand and trust each other, then these two people can call each other friends. Onlv one nomination was received in each ward, so everv alderman pot in by acclamation. he non interest shown in Ward 7, which comprises all the single men's bunkhouses, is even more appalling. This, the most populous ward in Cassiar, returns two aldermen to council, and again, onlv one nomination, that of the writer of this column, was received. We were looking forward to a lively election campaign, but it seems thatthis will not be the case. 7 Nevertheless, we will still try to represent this ward to the best of our ability.
