The land in this township is about 75 per cent open prairie. Dbawson creek flows in an easterly direction across the centre of the town- ship and the land rises gently to both sides, attaining an elevation of 2500 feet on the north side and 2600 feet to the south in this township. The country rises to a considerably higher alti- tude south of this township. THumerous springs have their source in this hilly country forming an abun- dant supply of water in the south part of the town- ship through the year. This is one of the older settled townships in the district and a large por=- tion of the lands are patented. WNesriy 4000 acres of land are under cultivation and a large portion of these were under crop. The village of Dawson Creek, consisting of two stores, a post office and rooming house, a buteher shop, also a blacksmith shop, is situated in sections 9 and 16. ‘the main road from vouce- Coupe to the sol- dier settlement on the westerly side of the Kiskatinaw river passes across the southerly portion of this town- ship; improved roads are found along many of the section lines throughout the township.
