In the course of this service the Archbishop was very gracious in his praise of Coqualeetza, and expressed his deep appreciation for the breadth of vision and spirit with which our students were encouraged to embrace the denomination of whatsoever mission they came from and would return to. THe ENG.isH ScHoot Girts—One of the most noteworthy of the visits during the year was that of the English Schoolgirls. Their party consisted of twenty-five girls of between seventeen and eighteen years, from the various Public Schools throughout England, accompanied by Miss Edith Thompson, English Director of the Party, and escorted by Miss Stewart Galt, of Toronto, Canadian Director. They visited Canada under the auspices of the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire, the purpose of the tour being that the girls might learn something of the past history of Canada, as well as gain an impression at least of its present position and future development. The party arrived in Chilliwack on September 18th, and four of their number, Miss Galt among them were billetted at Coqualeetza. The following afternoon the entire party visited the school, spending about two hours in looking over it, and evincing great interest. They were afterwards entertained at tea at the Principal’s residence, in company with about thirty of the ladies of the district who were invited to meet them. They left by the evening train for Vancouver, thence to Victoria and the Island, and back through Canada to England, where they arrived after a three-months’ absence, full of varied impressions of our vast Dominion. It is pleasant to note that several of their number have corresponded with Mrs. Raley since their return to England, thus indicating that their short visit with us has left more than a mere fleeting imprint on their minds and memories.
