TYRO MARKSMAN AWARD FOR 1946 SINCE THE inception of a regular annual marksmanship test a few years ago, the shooting standard of the force has gone up very noticeably. There are now 186 members of the force entitled to wear the “cross-gun” emblem of the marksman, and competition is keen to get into the “upper crust” of “Expert” and “Master”. Year by year individual scores are im- proving, and there is a much greater interest in pistol shooting now than there has ever been since the programme started. Prince George, and the entire Fort George Sub-Division, have shown the most remarkable performance of any division in the force. While they have always been above average, this year the percentage of qualifying marksmen has reached the figure of 93.3%, compared with 80% in 1945 and 53.5% in 1944. Not content with this high average, they have taken the High Tyro Award. Const. A. W. With such a high percentage of marksmen, you ought to be able to hang up another award this year. TERRACE MACHINE SHOP & GARAGE W. C. OSBORNE, Prop.
