STAFF EXODUS TO ADMINISTRATION BUILDING Moses would be proud! by Manpreet Sidhu A new building is now open on campus. Nearly 120 UNBC employees are moving into the Faculty/ Administration building from October 28 to November 10. The 62, 000 foot building is home to administration staff, the Senate, the Deans, faculty, Graduate students the President and vice-presidents. These employees had_ previously occupied office space in downtown Prince —_ George. By November 10th the three- story building at the corner of 6th and Brunswick and the two floors of office space on 4th Avenue will be vacated. Construction is still Manager of Campus Planning continuing in the Faculty/Admin. building. Slate flooring is being completed and. the painting crew has been working 24 hours a day in preparation for the occupation of office space. "We moved 400 bookshelves, 150 filing cabinets, 300 desks, and 500 chairs and all this stuff has to be unpacked, documented and placed in the appropriate space." Most of the. furniture has arrived on campus and it is being moved — into the appropriate offices. "Things are starting to settle down". His immediate staff is comprised of himself and an interior design assistant who is hired on contract. Every office in the Faculty/Admin. building will be occupied by full-time and sessional staff once the move is complete. "Space is very tight on campus". This should not discourage the students because plans are in the works for other buildings on campus. Aside from the big move, Paul has also been working on the Ten Year Capital Plan which went to the Board of Governors in October. Ideas for the new 274-bed residence building and a new classroom building are included in this plan.
