CASSTAR SAFETY NITE On Sept. 16th. the second "Safety Nite" was held in the Com- munity Centre and was attended by 128 employees. Chuck Caron, General Superint- endent introduced Mr. Neil George the guest speaker for the evening. Mr. George gave a very infor- mative and interesting talk to the mixed audience of Management, Sup- ervisors, female employees and hour- ly rated personnel. Following Mr. George's talk, Safety Award presentations were made to employees who had worked one or more years without an accident. Two employees who have each worked for Cassiar for i9 years deserve at this time, special commendation for their wonderful performance and example to their fellow employees. They are Oscar Daum and George Hanley. Hanley, McLl Maintenance Mechanic ~ 19 years, No Acetdent. George Oscar Daum, Maintenance Mechanic 19 years - No Accident, Although all of the award recip- ients are worthy of having their pictures in the Asbestos Sheet, space doesn't permit. The nineteen year recipients only received this additional recog- nition. The departmental awards were made by the Department Heads and the Staff presentations were made by Mr. A.C. Caron. Following the presentations, a Safety Film, borrowed from the C.N.1I.B. was shown, the title: "IT'S UP TO YOU’. Closing off anether successful evening, refreshments were served and many thanks go to; Peggi Illman, Emma Mielnichuk, Lynne Sutton, and Shirley Nelson (who was too shy to have her picture taken) for their assistance in the preparation and laying-out of the lunch.
