Mr. Loudon %&% a B.C. newspaper man who Lived for 10 yeards of his earky youth in Anyox, a thriving mining townsite of the Granby Copper Mine. A Strickky company town with no access to it except by boat, it was a small world in Athekf. He tells of his growing up there with his family and frXends and of the many explLoits of boyhood in a place where there was no outside entertainment except for the movie theater. He writes of the town buildings, the people and then of the Great Strike and the "Big Blast". The mine shut down in the mddkle thirties and the towns- people were forced to Leave and enter the world of the Great Depression. Mr. Loudon's book tells of how in 1971 he and two {rtends flew into Anyox and proweled around the nemains of the town, now given over to bush and wild animals. This %& the kind of thing that can happen to any mining town. This 4s a great book to be nead by those of us old enough to remember such times. It'S also of much interest to younger readers who have never had such experiences as these. M.
