The Christmas concert of the Cassiar Elementary-Junior Secondary School was presented to a capacity ( audience on Tuesday, December 19th, in the gymnasium. Following ‘““O Canada”, Bent Pederson { extended a warm welcome to all. Mrs. Godden’s nursery school children won the hearts of everyone present with “‘Little Susie Snowflake’’, and Mrs. Kahlon’‘s kindergarten heightened anticipation for December 25th by appearing as ‘‘Little Christmas Packages’’. The Grade 1 class expressed everyones wish for a white Christmas with the ‘‘Snowflake’’ song. The “First Christmas Tree’, by Mrs. Clark’s Grade 2 and 3 pupils, was a delightful taste of a child's Christmas. A combination of tableau and song, ‘‘The Huron Christmas Carol’’, was presented by Mr. Godden’s Grade 3 and 4 students, and “Silent Night’, sung in French by Mr. LaFreniere’s Grade 5 and 6 classes, struck a Centennial note and diminished the miles between east and west. Led by Mr. Sinclair, the entire school joined in a spirited rendition of favourite Christmas carols. The evening culminated with the long-awaited arrival of a benevolent Santa Claus, who distributed gifts and candy to all the children. Santa’s helpers were Doreen Neilson, Olga Loga, Pat Witwicki and Kris Nordin. The pictures below and opposite illustrate how successful the entire evening was, to both children and parents.
