Especially those who’ve managed—unintentionally, of course—to invite one of the many cold and/or flu bugs that are going around lately to come and visit for awhile. Then there are those who love the winter, and sing with joy, “Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!” The time of warm winter clothing and rushing to class at the last minute to avoid being outside for any length of time seems to have arrived. After a long cold spring that lasted until fall, we now have an early winter. (Hopefully that means it will be a short winter, too! If only we could be so lucky...) Welcoming the ‘Winter Weather? lots of snow part. Waiting for the bus in three feet of wet white stuff is rather preferable to waiting for the bus in forty below weather. Besides, you can’t ski at minus fifty on three inches of snow. And without the leaves and green grass (sometimes), the city just looks kinda, well, boring. So the snow also doubles as a mask for the not so lovely sights of Prince George—like the smoke from the pulp mills. White on white is not exactly visible, especially from up the hill. Actually, depending on the amount of snow, we can’t even see anything but the hill.’ But all in all, winter isn’t that bad...as long as you come equipped with a built- in fur coat and good grips on your soles! So enjoy the. pleasant warmth of the weather, while it lasts; and pray for snow instead of cold (you know it will be one or the other, just pick one!)
