POWDERKING: The Bad, the overtheedge iviarcn 2, 1990 Good, and the Ugly by Andrew Clark The Natural Resource " Management Society’s First Annual Powderking ski trip started out bad, ended good, with some ugly in between. On the whole, the trip was great. Starting with the first mishap, the bus was late ar- riving in front of the Agora. So all of the people who were there on time could have slept in instead of waking up at 5:15. The second mishap happened at the mountain. We arrived at nine o’clock, which, for some, is still too early, to find out that the chair lift was not working. All we could do was sit and wait; so we really could have slept in, every one of us. When finally nally started to move; so by the time we loaded on to the chair and got to the top, it was one o’clock. Luckily, the management decided to keep the mountain open for a little longer than usual. Upon arriving at the top of the T-bar, some found untracked pristine powder. On the way down, you could see some people stop, take it all in, then—after proper praise to the powder Gods— rip it up, turning the nice fluffy powder at the top to gross cement-like crap at the bottom. Now they know why this “resort” was aptly named Powderking. (Some of the other good that came page the brave souls on the trip, two little kids were saved. Thanks Gord! For all those who went, I hope that you had as much fun as I did and that you will come along next year; it should be better. And for all those who thought that you should have gone, all those who did go gota FREE lift ticket to be used by the end of the year. some of us got tired of sitting around and decided to climb up the mountain, some of us didn’t make it far. ~ At 12:30, the chair fi- out of this trip is that because of the “success” this year, the Natural Resources Society will be doing it again next year.)
