The first winner of the “Inspector W.
J. Service, M.M.” award for girls is 18-
year-old Sarah Kelsey, Kamloops born,
daughter of Mrs. W. Kelsey, 173 Sey-
mour Street, Kamloops. She got her
elementary education in Kamloops and
later attented the Kamloops High School.
Sarah plans to attend the 1947-48 session
Vancouver Normal School teacher-train-
ing course.

Tom Legg was the choice of the com-
mittee in its selection for the “Const.
Perey Carr, M.M.” scholarship for boys.
Tom is the son of C.N.R. engineer and
Mrs. A. Legg, 226 Nicola Street, Kam-
loops. This young man seems to be going
places. His mark of 85.8 per cent in the
recent University examination places him
at the top of all city students.

When it came for the final choice of
the committee to select the winner of the
“Const. Carr’ award it was apparent that
Edward Phillip Johnson was in there
fighting and just a little behind Tom
Legg. The committee considered his ef-
forts were worthy of special recognition
and the young man was therefore pre-
