develop and mine the ore body. A pilot mill was constructed in the fall of 1952 and a small tonnage was mined and processed from the talus ore. In 1953, the present mill was constructed and milling commenced at a rated capacity of 150 tons of ore per day. Since that time the operation has expanded steadily and milling cur- rently is at a rate of 3,100 tons of ore daily. An average of 380 tons of fibre is now produced every day for trans- portation to Vancouver and world markets. The ore, originally truck-hauled for six miles to the mill and later conveyed by a combination of truck-haul and flight conveyor, is now transported by an aerial tramway, 14,600 feet long, to the mill site and storage areas in the valley below. It is now necessary to augment these deliveries by truck haulage. Thus, since the year 1950, the property has dev- eloped from a raw prospect to a pro- ducer of high-quality asbestos fibre for a variety of uses on the world markets. JOURNEY TO CASSIAR Most employees when hired by our own hiring service in Vancouver or our agents — Chamber of Mines and Resources in Edmonton — have their airfare advanced and fly to Watson Lake via Canadian Pacific Airlines. This fare is not deducted from the em- ployee’s cheque provided he remains six months. Payment for outgoing transportation is made only upon term- ination if the employee has attained a minimum of nine months senority or at the time an employee takes his vacation after one years service. ...............———
