Red-coated members of the force stood in trim array in the flag- bedecked main office of RCMP head- quarters along with special constables and former members of the force in civilian dress. The ceremony was carried out with clock-like precision. As his name was announced in turn by Assistant Com- missioner C. E. Rivett-Carnac, each of the 27 award winners stepped smartly to the front of the room, saluted, shook hands with the attorney-general and returned to his place after Mr. Bonner had pinned the medals on the scarlet tunics. Recipients of long service medals each have completed at least 20 years’ service with the force. Many of the award winners received both the long service medals and the corona- tion medals. Mr. Bonner, in a short address, declared the medals served as recog- nition for service of outstanding quality for a period of 20 years. The excellence of the service of the force. said the attorney-general, is well understood by the people of the West in general and the people of B.C. in particular.
