Heraldic or Totem Pole (Kwakiutl). This pole stood in front of the house of a Bella Bella
Chief of the Kwakiutl Tribe. The entrance to the house was through the arched hole at the
base. The carvings probably represent one of the owner’s crests and a mythical ancestor.
