BeNTICTON GETS NEW COURTHOUSE MINISTER OF Public Works E. C. Carson described Penticton’s impressive new quarter million dollar court- house as ‘as fine and modern as any you will find in Can- ada,’ when he officially open- ed the building in March. Mr. Carson paid tribute to its designer, Chief Architect H. Whittaker, of the Depart- ment of Public Works, to the contractors, Dawson © Hall Ltd., and to many of the sub-contractors. Mr. Carson mentioned that UVES * the province, third most im- | portant in Canada, is due for a period of great expansion and development in which Penticton was fortunately placed and would undoubt- edly share. The new building, one of the first provided by the gov- ernment in the post-war era, would permit of improved services to the public. He received a golden key from Mr. Whittaker, who in turn had received it from the contractors, and declared the building open.
