Brewer Blackbird--Euphagus cyanocephalus (Wagler ). Observed in small flocks along the highway between Alexandria and Quesnel on May 5, and at Puntchesakut Lake on May 8. There also on May 9 a flock of 15 males and five females that had been attracted by a pile of stable refuse came under close observation. All were definitely of this species. None was observed subse- quently in the vicinity and apparently it did not nest there. At Kathlyn Lake, near Smithers, an adult male and an adult female were collected, and four others seen, on July 13. Flocks were observed also at Lacroix Lake, July 14 , 8; Smithers, July 15, 30+, Bulkley Lake, July 26, July 29, 20+; Francois Lake, August 4, 50+; all these flocks, except the first mentioned, were feeding on grasshoppers when under observation. Cowbird--Molothrus ater (Boddaert). Relatively common in lowland regions and particularly so at Bouchie Lake where the first, three males, were recorded on June 6. At Chief Lake on July 7 an adult male and female were accompanied by a striped young. The latter fluttered its wings and assumed the attitude, usually described as begging for food, before each of the adults in turn. Other observations are: Dragon Lake, June 9, one female; Summit Lake, June 25, heard; highway between Vanderhoof and Endako, July 10, 8+; Bulkley Lake, July 27, 1 male, 1 female together; Francois Lake, August 12, 1 young bird with flock of Brewer black- birds.
