Kornered On Kampus By Dana Schwehr | hope everyone had a restful reading week, and got lots of home- work done, so you don’t have to do it later. | know | did. | went home for a couple of days to visit my family, and get some work done. | came back, expecting to use the Internet from my apart- ment to get some more work done on Sunday night. However, because | live in Residence, | was shocked to find out that my Internet connection, along with every other Internet connection in both of the buildings had been cut off until further notice. The night | came back. | was unable to access the Ugrad email server. Unfortunately, CTS had emailed the notice of the cutoff to everyone’s UNBC email address. | had no clue what was going on, and was rather upset that | couldn’t get my research done. The next day there It was dumb, because some people had to do work, and tere wern’t enought computers for everyone to do what they wanted. Cheryl, 1st year Undeclared was still no Net, so | went to the Housing Office to see if they knew what was going on. After all, you have to apply for an _ Internet connection through the Housing Office. The girl there could only tell me that the Net was down because there had been problems with band width; too many people doing things on the inter- net had crashed the sys- tem too many times, so they were looking for ways to fix the problem. Until then, there would be no_ Internet in Residence. | was told that it should only be down for a couple of days. Several thoughts crossed my mind. Why didn’t they do this during reading week, when no one was here? The Internet connection went down on _- Sunday, February 27. That is at the end, when everyone back comes to It suck because | could- n’t access my Web CT courses Pat, 2nd Year Chemistry /Biology Residence, and wants to get the research infor- mation that he or she accumulated over Reading Break. | am dis- turbed that a service that | am paying for can sud- denly be revoked like that, especially when | have no idea how long it is going to be gone for, or if | will ever get it back. The idea that everyone has to. pay for the actions of a few individu- als is not a pleasant one. Also, this adds more stress to the computer system at the school, which is already over- loaded at the best of times. So, | thought that | would ask the people of UNBC what they thought about this issue. After all, it does affect every- one, maybe not directly, but if you need to use the computers in the UNBC computer labs, you will know what | mean. Your quirky ways and quick smile may have gotten you this far, but form now on you will need a little more than that to get you through. | suggest a new haircut and some dance lessons. This week you could win free stuff, but I’m not allowed to tell you how because that would cause a malfunction in the temporal rift valley con- tinuum time frame thingy. Scorpio As you are searching for a summer job just remember to repeat to yourself, “I’m good enough, smart enough, and gosh darn it, people like me.” Taurus It is important to remember in life that the container may be misleading. It’s what's inside that counts. So next time you see someone put a Cool Whip container in the microwave don’t laugh because it may just contain Stirfry. Sagittarius This is your week to explore your abilities. Go for that course you've been told about in natural massage arts. You know you want to. Gemini Don’t pack away your galoshes just yet. You still have another month of school to wade through. Capricorn If you ever decide to travel out of the country this is not a good week. | see bad trav- el things happening in the next week. Just don’t do it. It would be bad. Cancer Your creativity will be stretched to its limits his week as you try to figure out how to make something edi- ble out of a can of beets, two radishes and a cup of flour. Aquarius You know that you are com- fortable with yourself when you are willing to dance all by yourself at the bar... or on the bus or in the street or where ever you get the urge. Leo That annoying rattle in your pocket should not be ignored. Especially since it is caused by the medication you were supposed to take yesterday. Pisces | suggest you lay off the cold medication for a while. Your glazed look during class is starting to get on your pro- fessors nerves. Virgo Be kind to things you cannot understand and water your house plants this week. They will appreciate it. = This is Graham. He had = areally good quote, but because of technical dif- ficulties with the tape recorded, we don’t have it. But, we thought we’d ~ = run the photo anyway. . @ 8 Sorry, Graham! | think it’s funny, and if they abuse it then it should be taken away. Kim, 3rd year Political Science
