HE 70 Mile House is reached at a point 23 miles north of Clinton. This

Cc place has a most genial proprietor in the person of Mr. Porter, who

will give visitors the very best accommodation. It is probably the

best place along the Cariboo Road for Geese and Duck hunting. From here

one makes a detour to Green and Horse Lakes, and the headwaters of the
Bonaparte River.

The next point of interest is at or near the 83 Mile House, this being
the highest point on the road (elevation 3,830 feet). The view from here
is magnificent. Seventeen miles further north is the 100 Mile House, oper-
ated by the Marquis of Exeter estate, at which point they have erected a
