THE GOVERKMENT OF THE PROVINCE OF BRITISH COLUMBIA. } A =! 4 + u / yy a 2 > > ad S s 5 The Honourable E. T. Kenney, Minister of Lands and Forests, takes pleasure in announcing that; General Air Photo Cover for British Columbia Was Completed in 1950 . . . This means that every farm, school, and settlement; every road, bridge, and railroad; and every lake, river, and meadow, where not hidden by tree cover, has been recorded on map-like, vertical air photographs. Some 200,000 of these photos, taken from about 3 miles high in the sky, were required to cover the total area of British Columbia. The ten-year program for preliminary general air-photo cover of the Pro- vince has been completed in half the time scheduled! The work was done by the R.C.A.F. and your Provincial Surveys and Mapping Service. The second phase of the program is currently under way. This long-term activity consists of taking low-altitude air photographs of the most eco- nomically-important areas in the Province, to provide the detailed and large-scale maps which are essential for the full development of our re- source assets through the second half of the 20th century. In addition, re- vision photography is a continuous need to ensure up-to-date information for map-making. ROOT Whether hunter, vacationist, lodge-owner, logger, trapper, tourist, farmer, or prospector, your familiarity with British Columbia can be increased by use of these general air photographs, available from the Division of Air Surveys Surveys of Mapping Service Department of Lands and Forests GEO.
