On June 20th a number of friends of Mr. & Mrs. KARL SCHULTZ gathered to bid them farewell and good luck. The Schultz’ have lived in Cassiar for 13 years while Karl was employed in the maintenance department and as Maintenance Foreman in the mill and sheet metal shop. Their new address is not yet definite, but their friends will be hearing from them. We have a picture below showing the pen set and handsome attache case presented to the Schultz’. Good bye and best of luck in your new home. A farewell party was held June 27th for ANDRE & FLOR BEGUIN. The Beguins first arrived in Cassiar in 1953 when Andre was Assistant Mill Superintendent. He soon climbed to Mill Superintendent, General Superintendent and for the past 16 months has been Manager of Operations. In this capacity he will have his headquarters in Toronto. Amongst the gifts presented to the Beguins was an engraved silver tray, commemorating their 16 years in Cassiar. Andre will be back often on business trips, and we hope to see Flo and Jimmy with him occasionally. Two new Wabco Haulpak trucks have arrived in Cassiar for our mining operation. They are capable of carrying 50 tons of material, using a 635 horsepower engine, at a cost of $120,000 each. Also a new addition to our Heavy Duty Mechanic profession in ANTONIO ISIDORE. Tony is going to serve his apprenticeship in Cassiar. He finished his pre-apprentice training in Dawson Creek and graduated at the top of his class. Congratulations and best of luck, Tony.
