This year the Maintenance Department sponsored a Christmas Tree Contest for children up to age 12. The children were to count or guess how many lights were on the tree on the corner of Connell Drive and Creery Street. Approximately 46 children of all ages entered this contest, and Mrs. Laura Akey and Mr. Archie Campbell were judges. The entries were collected at the Christmas party which was held for the children on the afternoon of December 20th. After all the entries were sorted the judges found three children who had the correct answer, 350 bulbs. To choose the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners of these three, these entries were placed in a hat and little Donna Giachino drew the entries out one at a time. The first name of the three winners drawn was: Paul Caron — first prize — $5.00 Age 12 The second name of the three winners drawn was: Kathy Johnston — second prize — $3.00 Age 6 The third name of the three winners drawn was: Hans Tischler — third prize — $2.00 Age 10 The convenors, Mr. G. Edwards and Mrs. R. Ebbinghoff, would like to congratulate the winners and thank all the other children for participating. Thank you also to the judges and Donna for their help. This Festive Season, the tiny tots had a chance to be in the limelight at a Christmas Concert, held at the Cassiar School on December 18th, under the direction of their teacher, Mrs. Margurite Kovacs. The parents and friends of the children were invited to be entertained by them, and we are sure they enjoyed the entertainment as much as the children enjoyed entertaining them. The concert consisted of dancing, singing and the playing of musical instruments. The picture is one of the ‘‘Band in Action” led by Paul Veltmeyer, one of the more gifted children in music. Keep it up Paul, perhaps in 20 years we will be watching you on T.V. leading an orchestra all of your own, and perhaps some of your classmates will be led by you again! The children all did a wonderful job and everyone enjoyed themselves tremendously. Thank you Mrs. Kovacs and Children — Hope there’s another one next Christmas. POTEAU LRT Oe ct | a | ‘tt 22) ka Pe =# MU We certainly can’t forget to mention that Santa Claus made it safely and on time for the gift giving after the children’s movie on December 20th. The children were very happy to see him and enjoyed their candy and gifts. * ee He When will the Cocktail Lounge be ready??? | think we said last time, but word now is that it should be ready by the time we go to press, (Don’t think they made it!) or very soon afterward.
