B.C. Police Marksmen Win International Pistol Shoot IN A SERIES of three monthly pistol matches, the B. C. Police No. 1 pistol team topped five competing State Police and Highway patrol teams from south of the border, to annex the major awards in the Western International Pistol League shot during April, May and June. Police, who received a gold medal for high individual performance. Young topped the 30 contestants with three scores of 279, 278 and 273 out of possible 300. His 279 was the highest individual score turned in during the series. The shooting was over the 20-yard Na’ tional Match course, considered by experts to be a tougher course than the outdoor National Match or the Camp Perry course. The B. C. experts set a fast pace from the outset and were never headed as the contest proceeded. Nearest rivals were the New Mexico State Police, who finished in second place. The B. C. team consisted of Inspector C. Clark (Hars.), Sergt. J. A. Young (C.LB.), Corpl. J. A. Henry (Duncan), Constables Walter G. Bailey (Alexis Creek) and H. J. Parsley (Duncan). Const. Bailey turned in an unusually good series of scores to take second place in individual standing. Five of the first eight places were taken by B. C. men. High individuals on U.
